The best essential oils to help you manage stress

While scent is heralded as our link to memory, it’s when fragrances are blended with essential oils that they create an even stronger link to our brain: essential oils can relieve stress and anxiety by impacting our hormones and brain waves.

Our first ever candle scents at the launch of Cavendish Ave. were our London Fog candle and our Notting Hill candle. While we’ve always supported mental health charities (we currently donate 5% of all revenue to Black Dog Institute), we wanted our work on supporting your mental health and Curating Your Cosy to run deeper.

Our Cavendish Ave. London Fog candle was curated with lavender essential oils as the base for this cosy, soothing candle fragrance. Studies have found that lavender essential oils can decreased anxiety by 45% against the Hamilton rating scale for anxiety, largely because lavender slows Alpha waves in the brain, making sleep and rest easier. We’ve blended lavender essential oils with the cosy scent of honey and vanilla, buttermilk and honeycomb for a candle that truly feels like sinking into a dream.

Our Notting Hill candle fragrance has always been our go-to when it comes to boosting your mood. The scent is light and fresh, with bergamot essential oils playing a huge role in increasing your dopamine (your feel-good hormone) and decreasing your cortisol (that pesky stress hormone). Multiple studies conducted worldwide have found that just 15 minutes of exposure to bergamot essential oils increases dopamine by 17%, causing a boost in your mood amidst a beautiful blossoming scent.

While lighting a candle and enjoying essential oils won’t solve the weight of the world on your shoulders, it will help you Curate Your Cosy. Sink into beautiful scents that range from sweet and creamy, to fresh and floral, and support your mental health in this little way.
